Holiday Home to Let, Rue du Plo, Autignac South France, Languedoc, Herault

Location

Beziers / Autignac area

 Autignac has easy access to almost all facilities, many are very close by. It's a short drive from Béziers, a combination of an old town and all the new and necessary facilities, 35 minutes from the sea (Valras Plage or Serignan), the Black Mountain, the market town of Pézenas and the Canal du Midi.

Autignac enjoys a pleasant climate with a fairly short winter. The area is pleasantly hilly and the town is surrounded by vineyards. Some of the local highlights include:

Lamalou-les-Bains - a spa town 15 minutes north with a nine hole golf course. Autignac Festival every July.

Markets on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday in Autignac, good markets at Malagas and Pezenas.

Wine tasting at many local vineyards and cellars. Tennis and swimming nearby at Laurens.

A very good website is www.creme-de-languedoc.com.

Although the distances may look relatively long, the roads are very good and, except for peak times, generally uncrowded. GPS (Satnav) systems work well except in the streets of old towns where the high buildings block signals.

 The house is conveniently located within a few minutes walk of the following amenities:
Yellow = Tobac/Presse
Green = Mayor's Office & Town Hall
Blue = Cafe du Commerce
Red = Church
Orange = Post Office

The Languedoc-Roussillon / Herault region

Languedoc stretches from the Camargue (think wild horses!) in the east to the Pyrenees and Spanish border on the south-west. Vineyards have been in the region for over 2 000 years.

It is a region that ranges from the very old, the remains of a 5 000 year old settlement at Cambous, to the very modern Montpellier, which is the fastest growing town in France. From the very simple, St Guilhem-le-Désert dates back to the 8th century, to the vibrant beach areas from the Cap d'Agde to Sète. In between all of this, there's something for everyone! Although, there are some things it doesn't have: the prices and crowding of Provence.

The Hérault is the central and largest department in the region and Autignac sits comfortably in the middle of the Hérault. There's easy access to the Haut Languedoc National Park, the beaches, the modern and vibrant town of Montpellier (the fastest growing town in France), the Cathar Trails, Narbonne and Spain (about 90 minutes away). There is history and natural beauty combined with good infrastructure and excellent facilities.

The Languedoc is reputed to have 300 days of sunshine every year.
